New Manchester record label, City View Records, is hosting a launch event – the City View Records Launch Party – with live performances from emerging artists Luke Lewis, The Social Club and Bert Wilson. The gig is taking place at Lions Den, an intimate Deansgate venue, on Tuesday 7th February 2023. Tickets cost just £4 (although they’re currently available for half price using the code ‘halfprice’), and the profits from the launch event will be used to fund the label’s future releases. Doors open at 7pm, with performances starting from 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased from cityviewrecords.com/tickets.
All three acts are university students in Manchester at the start of promising careers. Bert Wilson, who will be accompanied by his three piece band, guarantees a high energy start to the night with a selection of his original indie rock tunes. The Social Club, a band that have only been playing together for a few months, will bring a mixture of originals and covers that are reminiscent of Manchester’s iconic indie history while also being inspired by more modern indie acts. The event’s headliner, Luke Lewis, is the first artist signed to City View Records and is offering an exclusive listen to originals that will soon be released on the label, alongside covers of huge songs that have inspired his career. Luke’s set will also feature his debut single and the label’s first ever release, Stranger Danger, which comes out just over a week before the event.
City View Records, the independent record label founded by 18-year-old entrepreneur Oli Hackett, launched on January 6th 2023 with a mission to ‘think differently’ to the rest of the music industry instead of copying what’s been done before. Using first principle thinking, the Manchester student believes he can break away from the conventional record label business model and find a new one that’s more creative, sustainable and fair.
